Question and Answers

Q:

Can I get the entire new stainless steel front door to my Kenmore Ultra dishwasher model 665.15772990?

A:

Although your particular model (665.15772990) does not show a stainless steel front door panel in the parts list diagram, there is an almost identical model that uses the same outside front door panel (model 665.13699K600). This model does offer a stainless steel replacement panel for the front door that should work on your dishwasher. While we do not normally recommend altering the product, replacing the outer front door panel on your dishwasher with this stainless steel colored panel should not cause any problems. The part number of this panel is 9743581. This stainless steel panel should fit your model of dishwasher. It is also likely that you will need the stainless steel access panel (part 3385956) to match the outer door panel. Before ordering these parts and replacing the panels, I recommend considering the cost of this revision versus buying a new stainless steel dishwasher. These parts are expensive. The outer door panel is around $130 not including tax, shipping and handling. The access panel runs about $180. The average useful life of a dishwasher is normally about 10 years. Here is a link from Sears.com for a stainless steel version of your dishwasher that is virtually the same model as the one that you have: Stainless Steel Kenmore 24 in. Built-In Dishwasher with Ultra Wash® System

I recommend that you consider replacing the dishwasher versus replacing the panels based on the cost of the parts.

The procedure for removing the outer front door panel is shown in the image below. Be sure to shut off the breaker to disconnect electrical power to the dishwasher before beginning this procedure.
