Q:

Kenmore Ultra Wash Dishwasher not responding 66513683K602 Kenmore Dishwasher

A:

I know that it can be very difficult to have issues with your dishwasher. From what you are describing it sounds like the keypad maybe shorting. This would cause the light to stop working. Normally this would also stop the control from working as well, but it is possible that it is making the connection. I would suggest that you test the keypad first. The image below will provide the testing information for the keypad. You will need an ohm/volt meter for this. If everything is reading okay, then the problem is in the control board. If you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself, please click on the link to schedule service: Sears Home Services. Click on "Get Started" and follow the directions, click on the red "NEXT" button to continue. I hope this helps. Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. We are always here to help. Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

Anne, I followed the troubleshooting for the keypad which led me to replace the control. I ordered a new control (the circuit board that connects to the keypad). Unfortunately, this did not fix the problem and I get no response by the keypad at all. No lights or anything. Any ideas?

The voltage supply to the dishwasher should be verified at the control board. There should be 2 wires supplying voltage to the control board. One wire is Tan in color and it will be connected to P8 terminal, the other voltage supply is connected to P2-6 and it will be Black with a White stripe. You will need to check voltage at these two wires to the White wire connected to P7 connector. If 110-120vac is verified at these two points the most likely failure is the interface board. If voltage is not present at either one, check the thermal fuse. One end of the Black wire with White stripe will connect to the thermal fuse. If the thermal fuse is open the dishwasher will be dead. Please let me know if there is anything else you need. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Anne, It appears I am not getting any power. I followed the black wire back looking for the thermal fuse, but found what looks to be a splice coming to another black wire coming from the bottom of the dishwasher where the house power is connected. There is another black wire at this splice that also goes to the control board and attaches to a small circular part on the control board...about the size of a dime. is this the thermal fuse or could it be back where the house power connects? What does it look like? thanks again for all your help!

Dishwashers are appliances we count on daily to wash all of our dishes so when it starts to have issues it can be really frustrating. While you are waiting on an expert to answer your question, I found a great link in the Manage My Life website. You can also set service with a Sears technician. I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your dishwasher. I would suggest that you first check the cap for damage and the seal around the top of the cap. If the cap is damaged, replacing it should fix your problem.

If you find no problem with the cap, then the dispenser assembly will need to be replaced to fix this problem unless you have a water softener and can do without the rinse aid. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

I am showing that the correct part number for the dispenser on that dishwasher is part number 8565814. That part W10224428 may be an equivalent replacement part. Here is a video that shows how to replace that dispenser: Dishwasher Detergent Dispenser Replacement . Be sure that you shut off the house circuit breaker to disconnect electrical power before accessing internal components.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .
