Q:

Lady Kenmore Trash compactor Manual Model 665.1350590

A:

I know how important it is to have detailed information about your trash compactor in case repairs are ever needed. The owners manual may no longer be available if the trash compactor is over ten years old. I am adding a link below to help you find the age of the compactor. I hope this helps with your research while you wait for your expert response.

Thanks for the info. I was able to find that the trash compactor was manufactured in 1990 by Whirlpool, but still unable to find a manual for it. It does work now, just wanted one just in case since I have a very handy husband who can fix anything

I know that can be very frustrating to have issues with your trash compactor. However due to that age of this item, the information you need is no longer available. Manufacturers stop producing after 10 years.  I was not able to find anything on the dimensions or size either. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Seems pretty sad that it is expected that an appliance will last only 10 yrs to me, and after that it is thrown away. Mine is working ok for now, so it is just a disappointment. We have become a throw away society, and I guess that is just the way it is.

I have the Owners, Parts and Installation Manuals for this compactor. Installed when we built our home in 92 and it still works although we hardly ever use the compact function anymore. Not sure how to get it uploaded on this site. I could scan it to PDF and email it to you.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The first thing to check is to see if something has fallen behind the drawer. Remove the drawer by sliding it out until it comes to a stop and then lift the front up and continue to slide the drawer out. You may find something had fallen over the back of the drawer preventing it from staying closed.

This may be the issue. If not, please reply and I will be glad to assist you further.

Q:

How do I remove my Kenmore trash compactor?

A:

Your trash compactor is likely secured to the bottom of the counter top or to the side of the cabinets with screws. (See image below)

Remove each screw securing the trash compactor and slide the unit out. If you have a tile floor you may have to raise both front legs in order to make enough clearance so you can lift the legs up onto the tile. NOTE: Lay some cardboard under the front legs so not to damage the floor as you slide it out from under the counter top.
