Question and Answers

Q:

Air inlet 66513242K900 Kenmore Dishwasher

A:

Thank you for choosing Searspartsdirect.com and being a valued member. I can certainly assist you in locating the instructions to replace the air vent in your dishwasher

Removing the Active Vent Assembly
The Active Vent Assembly is located in the console area.
1. Remove the six (6) screws securing the
control panel to the door frame.
2. Disconnect the wiring harness connectors
from the solenoid terminals on the active vent assembly.
3. Loosen, but do not remove the four T-15
Torx screws securing the left side of the
outer door panel to the door frame. This will provide addition room to easily remove the active vent assembly.
4. Using a flat bladed screwdriver in the slot provided at the bottom of the interior vent
grille, turn the vent grille counterclockwise ¼ turn and remove the grille.
5. The active vent assembly will drop free of the dishwasher door.

Thank you for your question.

Usually when this happens, it is because one or more buttons on the console are shorted. I have posted an image below that has a test you can do to determine the problem.

  1. First, turn the power off to the dishwasher.
  2. Access the unit control by removing the screws in the inter door panel.
  3. Remove the P1 ribbon cable that goes to the touch pad.
  4. With that wire off reassemble the door and restore power.
  5. Wait five seconds after restoring power and close the door.
  6. If the drain motor runs the touch pad needs to be replaced.
  7. If it does not do anything the unit control is defective.

The parts can be ordered from our parts website: Sears Parts Direct .

Mark, I followed your instructions. Per your trouble shooting directions I replaced the unit control. I powered the dishwasher back up and still have blinking lights. I am into this repair for $111 for the new part that does not work. Any ideas? This machine is a little more than 2.5 years old. Can't believe I am having this problem. My old dishwasher was 20 years old and just wore out! Any help would be great. Mike J.

Michael, I am sorry you are having the same problem. If you could reply below with the model number and more details, I will be happy to assist you. Please let me know which lights are blinking and how many times they blink. On some models, the clean light will blink in a pattern to indicate a fault code. I hope to hear from you. Thank you for using Manage my life. Mark.

Mark, The model # is 665.13242k900. The normal/wash and the cancel/drain lights are the ones that are blinking. They blink in an alternating pattern about 12 times every 5 seconds for both lights. Any help would be great. Thanks, Mike

Thank you for adding the model number. It sounds like the lights are flashing fast. This indicates a stuck key on the console touch pad. The image below shows how to determine if the console or the control is the problem. Just click on the image to enlarge it. It usually is a problem with the console not the control. If you cannot get the dishwasher to run doing the test I recommend ohming the buttons using the chart below. Please feel free to reply below if you have any other questions before you order the parts. Thank you for using Manage my life. Mark

I had lights flashing on Kenmore MOD 665.13242K900. The combinations of lights were changing from day to day. I tried many approaches. The one that helped was to tap multiple times on all buttons, especially on the ones that are never used. The door was already with removed cover and unplugged and plugged from the central board of the electronics the socked that connects the block with the buttons. I did not have a contact cleaner to spray on it, I had I desire to do this too. I assembled the door, run the test cycle (I forgot the combination of buttons, but I can find it). Since then ~8 months there is no problem. Try tapping on all (All Buttons one by one!) first! There could be some water condensation on a contact pair.
