Question and Answers

Q:

Panel does not light up 66513213K902 Kenmore Undercounter dishwasher

A:

Thank you for contacting Sears. I will be more than happy to assist you with your Kenmore dishwasher.

I can understand the frustration of your panel not functioning properly, after researching model number 665.13213K902. The issue can be coming from a few parts. First I would suggest checking the door latch and make sure the dishwasher is closing properly. This will prevent the dishwasher form powering up the panel. It can also be a loose wire from the panel. Make sure all the wires are connected properly to the panel. Lastly the control board will need to be replaced it may have shorted out.

I hope you found this information useful. Again thank you for choosing Sears. We appreciate your business, have a great day.

The panel would light up before even when the door was open. Could it be a bad door switch or fuse? I was looking at the wiring diagram and I noticed all power goes through the switch first.

Q:

dishwasher doesn't turn on

A:

Thank you for your question. It sounds like your fuse blew out. Remove the wires from the thermal fuse. Set your meter to read resistance. Place 1 meter lead on one side of the thermal fuse & the other meter lead on the other side of the thermal fuse. If the meter needle moves all the way over to 0, the fuse is good. If the meter does not move, the fuse is bad. Be sure to have the power off to the dishwasher before testing & to use all of the parts that come with the new revised thermal fuse kit (click here). Your fuse is part number three in the diagram. This should help you take the console apart. Do not forget to unplug the unit or trip the breaker.

Thanks Mark. But what I was really asking was if the dishwasher is "panel ready" for custom panels from my cabinet maker. I was aware of the three choices from Sears already. I know that several of the current Kenmore Elite are panel ready and come basically with a blank face (panel). For instance Sears Item# 02213966000 | Model# 1396 shows panel ready under "color and style". Thanks, Todd Todd

A:

According to the model number, you have submitted the dishwasher is not panel ready. However, you can order a kit to allow the use of a custom panel. The numbers I provided above are for the kits to allow you to do that. Because the model number is for a stainless dishwasher, you will need the black kit. If you have not purchased the dishwasher, yet I recommend purchasing a unit that is panel ready. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Mark: Thanks for that news. I purchased this dishwasher several years ago so I'm trying to come up with a plan for the custom panels because I really like this dishwasher. So to make sure I understand. I order the black 4396856 and that will give my cabinet maker everything he needs to put his panels on my dishwasher?
