Question and Answers

Q:

Will Not Drain 66513173K703 Kenmore Pro Dishwasher

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your dishwasher will not drain.

Obstructed drain hose or path:
1. Unplug dishwasher or disconnect power.

2. Check for blockages from sump check valve to
customer’s plumbing. Potential items:
? Plugged garbage disposal or plug not knocked
out.
? Blocked/stuck sump or drain loop check valve.
? Plugged hoses.

Open winding on drain pump motor or loose/open connection in Drain Motor Circuit:
1. Unplug dishwasher or disconnect power.
2. Check resistances of drain motor windings and all
connections in Drain Circuit.

Drain pump impeller fractured:
1. Unplug dishwasher or disconnect power.
2. Remove drain pump and check impeller by pulling
and rotating. If the impeller pulls off easily or turns
freely (normally there is some uneven resistance), it
is stripped. Replace drain pump.

Faulty drain motor drive circuit on control:
Check operation of drain motor during Diagnostics.

Drain loop check valve not sealing:
1. Disconnect drain hose at plumbing connection.
2. Elevate hose above dishwasher and fill with
water. If water flows into dishwasher, replace
entire drain loop (install as high as possible and
attach to underside of countertop if possible).

Q:

How do I install motor for dishwasher?

A:

The motor with sump is part number W10312489.  I was unable to bring up any instructions but the images below may be of some assistance.  There is a picture showing the two connectiors and a wiring diagram.  You can reply below with any additional questions.

Thanks. Unfortunately, the wire harness that came with the motor is not part of that wire diagram. It is part 21 on the parts diagram on the sears website for the motor. Does the manufacture who supplies the part have any knowledge where or why the wire harness is needed? I tried the new motor, but it still does not operate. Thanks, Bill

I am sorry for the delay. The in line fuse, part key 21, is accessed by removing the front door panel. You will see the fuse and I am told you will need to splice the harness to replace the existing fuse. .

Okay, so I installed the fuse and put it back together. The pump starts and fills the basin, but nothing after that. The replacement motor does not start. Any other possibilities?

Next step would be to check voltage to the motor. Since the dishwasher will fill then the door switch is okay. Will it drain if the cancel button is pressed? Checking voltage is more difficult than it use to be. For one thing you can not disconnect the part you are checking and put the meter leads to the harness. The motor or part being checked, must be connected when checked so there is a load. Without a load the reading will not be correct. Most meter leads are to big so a new pair of micro leads are needed. It may be time to have a technician come out and check things.

Q:

Control Panel does not respond 66513173K703 Kenmore Pro Dishwasher

A:

I know that it can be very frustrating to have issue with your dishwasher. From the description you give I suspect you have a stuck or shorted keypad. This usually requires replacing the console/interface to fix this problem. There is one thing you can try if your willing to do-it-yourself. First turn the power to the dishwasher off. You can then remove the console to access the main control board. Try removing the ribbon connection to the console and then reinstalling it. If there is no improvement then I would suggest that you perform the test in the image below. You will need an ohm/volt meter for this. If you don't feel comfortable doing this yourself, please click on the link to schedule service: Sears Home Services. Click on "Get Started" and follow the directions, click on the red "NEXT" button to continue. I hope this helps. Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance.
