Troubleshooting

Question and Answers

Q:

What does it mean when the "Clean" light blinks in a pattern of (6-1) and it will not run?

A:

The error code is indicating a possible faulty wash motor or diverter motor. It could also be the neutral door switch not closing and making contact when the door is shut and latched. I added the trouble shooting information needed to help diagnose the failure in the images below.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dishwasher.

Q:

What would cause the green clean light to blink six times on my dishwasher?

A:

Technically speaking there should have been a short pause after the first number of blinks and then blink another number of times and then a long pause and repeat. The blinking clean light is indicating an error. It must be read correctly in order to get an accurate error code.

I added the technical information for the error code of 6 blinks a short pause and either 1 or 2 blinks more and then a long pause and then repeats.

With the information given I cannot be 100% sure that this is your error code.

Below is a list of the possible failures:

  • Loose connection between the control board and the motor.
  • Motor fuse has failed.
  • Failed or jammed diverter motor.
  • Failed wash motor.
  • Neutral door switch not making contact consistently.
  • Door latch.
  • Failed control board.

Resubmit your question with additional details if you get a different count of the blinking clean light for further assistance.

I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dishwasher.

I have a Kenmore Elite Dishwasher Model number 665.13133K701. The cleaning light is blinking once, pausing, then blinking 6 times...then repeating. I cannot get the dishwasher to work. All the water is leaking. We cleaned the door, and all the parts inside to remove any "gunk" and it still isn't working.

The model number is 66513133K701. Since I sent this email the dishwasher has recovered and is working properly. This is the third time this problem has occurred and each time it has resolved itself after 24-36 hours. In each instance the problem started after the water main to the house had been shut off for some period of time. In each case I flushed any air trapped in the pipes completely before starting the dishwasher. Do you have any idea why this problem occurred? Is there anything I should do to prevent future occurrences?
