Question and Answers

Q:

My dishwasher isn't cleaning my dishes no matter how many times I run it. Leaving a white film on everything...

A:

Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife.com. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your dishwasher working properly. We are here to help. Based on the symptoms and looking at the pictures, I suspect a hard water problem. The images below shows how to solve most dishwasher cleaning problems. Also, since the dishwasher soap no longer has phosphates, that has cause white film problems. I recommend changing your dishwasher soap to the Finish Powerball Tablets. That soap does do a better job cleaning the dishes. I hope this helps.

Steffany, Since you are using a water softener is it working properly? I recommend checking the water hardness. Also, did the dishwasher run out of rinse agent? Rinse agent has to be used with today's dishwashers. Otherwise, I suspect a slight build up in the pump. I recommend cleaning the dishwasher using vinegar. The image above has the instructions for that.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If the display is dead and you have checked and confirmed the proper voltage supply where it connects to the dishwasher then it likely has a faulty thermal cut off inside the console assembly. The Thermal Cut Off (TCO) is connected in series between the voltage supply and door switch and when it fails, the dishwasher will not power up. I added an image below of the console and the thermal cut off (key#4).

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
