Question and Answers

oven cuts off 62945765690 Kenmore Electric range

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting with your question about your Kenmore range model 62945765690. I am so sorry there is a problem with the oven heating and one of the top burners. I will be happy to help you with this.

The error code F3 indicates there is a shorted or open oven temperature sensor (RTD). You will need to check the sensor harness and harness connections. These are the ones between the oven sensor and the oven control. If the wiring is okay, then you will likely need to replace the oven sensor. The F5 code indicates there is a conflict between the watchdog and the hardware. If the temperature sensor is fine, then you will likely need to replace the clock (Electronic Range Control – ERC). For the surface burner that isn’t working you will need to check the element the limiter and the element switch to determine which part needs to be replaced there. The parts can be tested with an ohm meter.

SAFETY WARNING: Disconnect the power supply before beginning your repair to prevent the risk of electrical shock which can result in property damage, serious personal injury or even death. If you are not comfortable completing this repair, you can set up service at or by calling 1-800-469-4663 (1-800-4MY-HOME).  I hope this answers your question. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.
