Unusual situation. Water softener model 625.388200. I have plumbed it up standalone 1" pvc from and to my swimming pool with a small pump. Problem is the water output is NOT soft. Have narrowed it down to not doing the brine function. Water level in salt tank gets higher, never lower. Have thoroughly cleaned nozzle & venturi and gaskets all look good. If I remove the venturi cap, the flow to perform the venturi function seems very weak - about an inch high. Could this problem be because I have the water flowing continuously? Do I need to block the output to get higher pressure to perform the regen function?

Purchased an in-line valve and stopped the outflow. That seems to have done the trick. Brine water is slowly going down now during the brine test cycle.

Although the motor and microswitch have been replaced, you could have a problem with the wire harness connection or the electronic control board. Section 5 of your owner's manual has a wiring diagram and technical information that may help you diagnose and fix this problem. Here is a link for the manual in case you need it: Kenmore Water Softener 625.388200 Owner's Manual.

You can check the wiring and run the diagnostic test to see if the control board is properly detecting the valve position. If the control board is bad, then it will need to be replaced. You can order parts from this page: Kenmore Water Softener Model 625.388200 Parts.

Unplug the water softener before accessing internal components and replacing parts.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.

Why does Water softner start a recharge & then stop

A:

I know how important it is to have a good working water softener in your home so that the water will feel much nicer. While you are waiting for an expert answer, I suggest you look in you owners manual in the troubleshooting pages so that you can see what the error code indicates. I am attaching a link below in where you can enter your model number and the owners manual will pop up. I hope my link is useful.

With your literature you received with your softner, was there a tech sheet included? Those two codes you gave are manufacture codes.I"m not a hundred percent on that. The failure codes that normally appear are ERR 1-6.Disconnect power and check and recheck the few connections that go from the control board to the various components.Verify that you are not loosing power to the unit.If all that seems to check out,the main control may be the issue. That, unfortunately is a couple hundred bucks.

Thank you for your question.

I can understand your concern when the water softener will not go through the regeneration process correctly and puts up codes.

The SR27 refers to the capacity of the unit and the K20 flash is also related to the software of the unit.

Neither one of these are a concern.

When the unit goes into regeneration it moves from the service mode which is supplying softened water, to the next step and stops while it fills with water. Then it moves to the next step which is brining step which moves the salt brine through the resin tank.

The next step is brine rinse and then the next step it will go through backwash and fast rinse and then back to the service mode. This whole process will takes about 2 hours. From 2a.m. to 4a.m.

If the softener never moves from the fill mode then there is a problem with the control since you also said that it is loosing time.

I would suggest that you change out the control first before you try to do anything else.

The part number for the control is;7285708 and you can order it from;Sears Parts Direct .

I will send a like to Kenmore water site. Once on the site go to troubleshooting animation and then view animation.

Kenmore water .

I hope this will help.

Thank you for your question Denny. With the ERR 1 code on the display indicates that the rotor motor has stalled or the rotor has caused the motor to stall. I will give you some diagnostics to help you figure out the problem. Sam A.
