Q:

Loud High Pitched Noise Coming From Kenmore Ultrasoft 150 and Low Water Pressure 625388160 Kenmore Water softener

A:

Based on your symtom and details, the upper or lower distributor inside the resin tank could have broken or deteriorated based causing a restriction. Tubing doesn't normally just break unless it becomes brittle from the water supply. You may want to remove the rotary valve cover and inspect for any broken tubing or debris.
If the water pressure increases when the water softener is bypassed, the resin beads could be bad and needing to be replaced or a restricted upper distributor. You may consider replacing the water softner rather than replacing the resin beads and distributor.  Here is a link to Kenmorewater.com that my helpful.

I am pretty sure that I need to "rebuild" the valve body. Just wanted to know if there is a master kit to accomplish this or do I have to buy the parts individually. If I am going to replace anything then I would prefer to replace all of the o-rings and gaskets as well.

Q:

watersoftner brine rinse 625388160 Kenmore Water softener

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear of the issue you’re having with the water softener. I know how frustrating that is.

If you did not replace the rotor seal when you replaced the valve body cap, you should do it now. Use the silicone grease that comes with the rotor seal on the face of the rotor. This will ensure a good seal between the rotor and seal.

The tanks do take some time to drain when they do a recharge or recycle but they should not run continuously.

Most times that is due to a Venturi assembly that is not sealing and creating the vacuum needed to drain the tank or to a stuck rotor or switch on the rotor not allowing the unit to advance to the next step in the recharge.

There are some excellent step-by-step troubleshooting animations on the Kenmore Water website that demonstrate what is happening at each stage of the recharge and show you what to look for when a problem occurs at that point. I have linked the site below; as I am sure it will be beneficial in further troubleshooting.
