Question and Answers

Q:

Continuous audible alarm on Kenmore 300 series water softener

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and for contacting us with your question about your Kenmore water softener. I am so sorry the audible alarm is going off and the issue was not resolved by unplugging the unit overnight. We will be happy to help you with this but will need some additional information. Your question did not include the model number of the water softener. Since all models do not operate the same, we will need the model number to research this issue for you. Kenmore model numbers begin with 665 followed by 8 more numbers. Please resubmit your question with the complete model number and we will be happy to research this issue for you.

In the interim, I have included a couple of links for you that should help you troubleshoot the problem. The first is our KenmoreWater.com site. The site outlines how the water softener works and has a great step-by-step animated troubleshooting feature.

The other link is to our water softener repair guides which cover the most common problems.

If you have the owner's manual, I recommend you review the troubleshooting section in the manual. They are usually pretty detailed and should help you identify what is causing the alarm to sound.

SAFETY WARNING: Disconnect the power supply before beginning your project to prevent the risk of electrical shock which can result in property damage, serious personal injury or even death. Internal parts may have sharp edges. Use caution and wear work gloves to prevent serious cuts. If you are not comfortable completing this repair, you can set up service at www.SearsHomeServices.com or by calling 1-800-469-4663 (1-800-4MY-HOME).

I hope this answers your question. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

I am so sorry there is a problem with the water level in the tank. I will be happy to help you with this. I have included the link below for you to view the owner’s manual online.

Your question states that there are two bags of salt in the tank. Based on the information in the manual, you should add one bag of salt and that it is best to keep the tank one quarter to one half full. It is not necessary to keep it full. Q:

Kenmore Water Softener 625.383060 No soft water. 625.383060

A:

This is very basic, but make sure that your bypass valve is in the service position and not the bypass position. All of your other checks sound very thorough. The only other issue to check is the distributors in the resin tank. You indicated that your replaced the resin. Make sure that the components in the resin tank were reassembled properly.
