The water in the tank is most likely caused by a dirty or blocked venturi. The nozzle and venturi put water into the salt tank then in the next step of the regeneration, it draws the salt water back out of the brine tank to clean the resin. When it is plugged, the water will come into the tank but will not be pulled back out. I recommend cleaning the nozzle venturi first. Then push the regenerate now button. After the cycle ends, which takes a few hours the water level, should have dropped in the salt tank.

The float assembly should be pushed to the bottom of the brine tank. If it is not at the bottom the water level can get as high as it did.

To clean a nozzle and venturi follow the steps below:

  1. Remove the main cover.
  2. Make sure the unit is in the service mode, indicated by the letter “S” stamped on the cam gear.
  3. Locate the venturi, usually on the right side of the valve body, and unscrew the cap from the venturi. (The cap may be either gray or white).
Note: Do Not lose the large o-ring seal.
  1. Lift out the screen support and screen.
  2. Lift out the nozzle and venturi.
  3. Wash and rinse all of the parts in warm clean water. If needed use a small brush such as a toothbrush to remove any deposits of iron or dirt.
  4. Check the gasket and replace if it is damaged or deformed.
  5. Clean the flow plugs and screens.
Note: Be sure to reinstall the flow plugs with the numbers facing up
  1. Carefully reassemble the venturi.
  2. Lubricate the o-ring seal with a light coating of silicone grease or Vaseline and place into position.
  3. Install and hand tighten the cap. Over tightening may break the cap or housing.
  4. Reinstall the main cover.
  5. Slowly pull the bypass valve fully open.
