Question and Answers

Q:

Water won't stop running 625348570 Kenmore Water softener

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be more than happy to help with your water softener. Upon researching model625348570; you can try pushing the bypass valve manually to stop the water flow. If pushing the bypass valve manually does not stop the water from flowing then you may have to replace the bypass valve.  When the bypass valve breaks it will not stop the water flow. I have posted a link of the bypass valve assembly to view the link click here.

I trust this information will help you, have a great day.

Q:

water softner is not recycling correctly, it seems the motor is moving, but I am not sure if it is correct, then the turbine is not moving

A:

I see you are not confident the water softener is working as it should. One place that may supply answers is the troubleshooting section of the owner's manual. I attached below if you would like to check while waiting for the expert.

Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the softener. If the turbine is not spinning, the control will see any water usage. If it does not see water usage, it will not regenerate. I think we should start with the turbine first. Remove the top cover to expose the valve body and the electronics. Next, locate the sensor for the turbine. Remove the sensor its hole. Then set the control to count water flow. Once ready, wave a magnet close to the end of the sensor. If the control does not react, the problem could be failed sensor or control. If the control does react, the problem is a stuck turbine. To clear the turbine put the softener into bypass and push and hold the recharge button until the motor starts running. This will release the pressure in the softener. Then remove the clips that secure the bypass to the softener. Put a bucket under the bypass because some water will leak out. Once the bypass is removed look into the outlet. You will se a pin sticking out. Grip the pin with a pair of pliers and pull it out. This is the turbine. Clean any particles off the turbine and reassemble the softener and push the bypass. The cycle should complete in a few hours. After is completes the cycle turn a faucet on and see if the control is counting the water.

Q:

I have a Kenmore deluxe demand water softener model 625.348570. The motor just makes a clicking noise and sends water down the drain. What is wrong?

A:

When the motor makes a clicking sound and doesn't move the cam, some gears are stripped inside the motor. You need to replace the motor.

Remove the motor from the cam and turn the cam with your hand. The cam should turn easy enough that you can turn it with your hand.

If you can turn the cam by hand, the motor just failed. If the cam is too hard to turn for you to turn it by hand, you need to replace the rotor and seals inside the valve and the motor.

The error codes tell you the motor or the wiring to the motor has failed.
