I believe you will be okay to use this salt. Generally I prefer a nugget type salt for softeners but the type you bought should be fine. If you like it I see no reason to stop using it unless it costs substantially more than what you normally use.

On the back of the softener there should just be the water inlet and the water outlet. These will work with a bypass valve assembly so the softener can be bypassed if needed. This assembly is on the very back where the water pipes from the wall connect to the machine.

Q:

My daughters Kenmore 625.348300 is running continuously, the water never shuts off. The water is constantly pooring out of the overflow. How can I do to fix it?

A:

The water softener constantly overflowing would be a concern. There is another web site for Kenmore that may help while you wait for the expert to review the model softener at your daughter's house. It has animations to make it easier to understand. I attached the link below. I also added the online owner's manual if needed. I hope this helps you find a solution.

Thank you for your question on the water softener running water down the draining continuously.

Please push the bypass valve behind the softener and this will take the softener out of service and stop the leaking.

If you lift the lid on the softener you will probably see the salt storage area full of water.

This will have to be removed as well as the salt before it can be put back into service after it is repaired.

The first thing I would recommend is to clean the venturi on the softener. The trouble shooting guide with help you with this as well as other troubleshooting tips.

Please reference the link below for troubleshooting information and interaction on what is causing the problem.

Please let me know what you find and we can continue to troubleshoot based on that information.
