Q:

Water is not filling into my new icemaker and also new water inlet valve. Kenmore Elite model 596.76579601. any ideas as to what else to check?

A:

It can be upsetting to spend money for new parts and end up with the same problem. A suggestion I have is to check the troubleshooting guide in the owner's manual. I attached the link to your refrigerator's manual below. I also found some general troubleshooting help on a web site. It may be useful while you wait for the expert answer.

The icemaker is controlled by a thermostat inside the icemaker. When the temperature on the thermostat (which senses the temperature in the first ice mold behind the motor unit) reaches 10-12 degrees it starts the icemaker through the harvest cycle. Just before the ice rake fingers return to the rest position the icemaker energizes the water valve for 6-7 seconds to fill the ice mold with water.

Leave the freezer door closed for 3-4 hours and see if the ice mold fills with water.

If the icemaker doesn't fill with water I recommend you call 1-800-469-4663 or go to www.searshomeservices.com and schedule service for a Sears technician to diagnose and repair the problem.

Q:

Why won't my refrigerator run?

A:

This model shows to have a control board and it may be defective or it may just need to be reprogrammed. I'm sending you pictures and instructions to program the board. The code number will be on the model and serial tag. If this board will not reprogram, it will need to be replaced. The board number is 67005397 and is available at SearsPartsDirect . If you need more assistance, you can resubmit your question with more details.
