Q:

My Kenmore elite bottom freezer water is forming on top of freezer door 59676252702 Kenmore Elite Bottom-mount refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when there is water forming on your freezer door.

Frost forming in the freezer door means there is an air leak somewhere. It is most likely the door gasket.

To confirm the gasket is sealing correctly you can perform the dollar bill test. Open the door and place one end of a dollar bill at the top left corner of the door and close the door. When you pull the dollar bill out of the freezer you should feel some resistance as the magnet is sealing the opening. Open the door and move the dollar bill to the right about 3 inches, close the door and pull it out again. Continue this test across the top, bottom, and both sides of the door. If the gasket is leaking you will find where it is not sealing.

If the door gasket passes the test look along the bottom edge of the door near the center. You will need a mirror to do this. There are two plastic breather valves in the bottom of the door. The purpose of the breather valves is to let the air you trap inside the cabinet when you close the door out. The breather valves should be closed. They are one way check valves that let air pass out but not into the cabinet.

Ok, thank you for your response, the air valves appear to be closed. Ok, I noticed upon closer inspection thatctge hasket had a wrinkle where the ice was building uo. I used my wifes air dryer to straighten it out. I also noticed that the door was not tightly attached, so I tightened that up too. Hopefully that fixes it. I will let you know in a few days !

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I understand how frustrating it can be when the refrigerator isn't cooling. Make sure that the fans are running and air is circulating in the unit. If fans are not running, the fan motor may have to be replaced.
I recommend checking for a clogged drain tube as well. I have included instructions below on how to thaw or unclog a drain tube.
SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.

1. Unplug your refrigerator and pull it 2 or 3 feet away from the wall. Take all your frozen foods out of the freezer and store them in a cooler while you unclog the drain tube.

2. Find the freezer defrost drain tube on the back of your refrigerator. Models with the freezer on top normally have the drain tube beneath the fruit and vegetable drawers on the back of the appliance and side-by-side models have the tube located at the bottom of the freezer portion. Consult the owner's manual for your refrigerator to be sure.

3. A hairdryer helps remove freezer drain clogs. Melt visible ice on the inside or outside of the tube with a hairdryer set to the "Low" setting. Hold the dryer 12 inches away from the surface until you melt all visible ice. Dry the back surface and drain tube with a clean cloth.

4. Squirt de-clogging and cleanser mixture into the drain tube with a turkey baster. Mix 1/2 cup bleach and 1/2 cup warm water in a bowl. Draw some of the bleach solution into a turkey baster. Squirt the warm bleach mixture into the drain tube to melt away any further clogs and clean the tube at the same time.

5. Empty the drip pan of water removed after unclogging the drain system. Carefully pull the drain pan out from the bottom of the refrigerator and pour the water out. Dry the surface with a clean cloth and replace it beneath the refrigerator.
