Q:

refrigerator troubleshooting

A:

My problem is: My 4 year old fridge, Kenmore, stopped cooling. Freezer still working. I vacuumed off the plastic grill down below and also removed it and vacuumed under the fridge. I turned up the refrigerator cooling knob from 4 to 6 and I turned up the freezer knob from 4 to 5. Fridge still not working. Any ideas?

Q:

How do I clean the drip pan in my Kenmore Elite model number 59676053703 bottom mount refrigerator?

A:

Unplug the refrigerator, remove the lower grill at the front and the lower cover from the back this should expose the tray which can be cleaned with warm water and a mild detergent. An old toothbrush the end of a stick may prove to be a useful tool as would a wetvac to suck up the 'water', both washing and rinsing. Whst you have the rear cover and the front grill off it would very likely be a good time to clean the condenser coils with a vacuum cleaner. Good Luck.

If you're getting an odor from the back vent of the refrigerator from the drain pan, you may have sitting water in the pan. The unit will need to be pulled out far enough to remove the back cover (key 26, image 1) to see the drain pan (key 8, image 2). Be sure to disconnect power to the unit first. When you have access to the pan you can clean it with baking soda to remove the odor.
