Q:

3 n 1 model #59675533400 59675533400 Kenmore Elite Kenmore refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be more than happy to help with your refrigerator. Upon researching model 59675533400: the 3 in 1 start relay is not recommended for this model and can end up damaging the control board on this unit as you suspect has already happened. The 3 in 1 start relays work better in older models, I recommend having the start relay for this model installed instead. I have posted a link of the start relay and over load for this model to view the link click here.

I trust this information will help you, we appreciate your business thank for choosing Sears.

Q:

Replacing water filter for 596.75533400 59675533400 Kenmore Elite Kenmore refrigerator

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when needing help with the water filter.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Kenmore model number  596.75533400.

CAUTION:

After installing a new water filter, always dispense water for two minutes before removing the filter for any reason.  Air trapped in system may cause water and cartridge to eject.  Use Caution when removing.

1.  Be sure to already have the new water filter present when taking out the old water filter.

2.  If water filtration system has been allowed to freeze, replace filter cartridge.

3.  If system has not been used for several months, or water has an unpleasant tast or odor, flush system by dispensing water for two to three minutes.  If unpleasant taste or odor persists, change filter cartridge.

INITIAL INSTALLATION:

The water filter is located in the upper right-hand corner of the fresh food compartment.

1.  Remove blue bypass cap and retain it for later use.

2.  Remove sealing label from end of filter and insert into filter head.

3.  Rotate gently clockwise until filter stops.  Snap filter cover closed.

4.  Reduce water spurts by flushing air from system.  Run water continuously for 2 minutes through dispenser until water runs steady.  During initial use, allow about a 1 to 2 minute delay in wqater dispersal to allow internal water tank to fill.

-->  Additional flushing may be required in some households where water is of poor quality.

REPLACING WATER FILTER:

Important:  Air trapped in system may cause water and cartridge to eject.  Use caution when removing.

1.  Turn filter counterclockwise until it releases from filter head.

2.  Drain water from filter into sink and dispose of filter in normal household trash.

3.  Wipe up excess water in filter cover and continue with initial installation, steps 2 and 4.

The filter should be changed at least every 12 months.

IMPORTANT:  CONDITION OF WATER AND AMOUNT USED DETERMINES LIFE SPAN OF WATER FILTER CARTRIDGE.  iF WATER USE IS HIGH, OR IF WATER IS OF POR QUALITY, REPLACEMENT MAY NEED TO TAKE PLACE MORE OFTEN.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter and I hope we can help you with your future questions and repairs. Thank you for choosing Sears and using our SearsPartsDirect.com.

Here's how I replaced the water head assembly (thing the water filter goes in) for model 596.7553340. The water head assembly has two lines coming out of it. One feeds it water, the other returns filtered water to the door. The two lines come out the back of the fridge via a pass-through that has a piece of Styrafoam in it to keep cold air from escaping the fridge. Replacing this unit does not require that the rear panel be removed from the fridge. Should take about 45 minutes to replace. - Pull the fridge out BEHIND THE FRIDGE - Turn off the water supply - Unplug the fridge (safety precaution) - Work the two lines out of the plastic channel - Remove the retaining clip that holds the return line against the fridge - Remove water supply line from the back fridge (I think this was 1/2" nut). After you take the supply off, you need to pinch the white plastic fitting then slide it off. This allows you to take out the feeder line end with its fitting. - With some force, and care, you pull the other line out of green plastic housing (the one that returns the filtered water to the door). It is a pressure fitting of some kind - blue ring with tabs that slides over the line. This is fragile, and I think you could easily break it, thus requiring a replacement ring. - Take out the Styrofoam piece and set aside INSIDE THE FRIDGE - Remove the filter - Remove the housing that covers the bottom of the filter. This is done by pulling each side out from the plastic hinge pins. - Remove the water head by popping out of the left clip, then pulling out of the right one. - Pull the old water head and lines out from the inside of the fridge Reversing the above process to install, with the caveats: - Be sure to put the water head assembly in the same way you took it out (there is a right side up) - Getting the return line back in with the blue ring is tricky. I got lucky, but it looks like it's possible to break the blue ring. Good luck! Shawn
