White specs in refrigerator water 596.73509201

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your water has particles in it.

Little white particles floating in the water will be calcium. It's present in all water supplies and is also referred to as water hardness. In some areas it can be very hard, while in other areas, the hardness will be light or mild. The only way to remove the calcium is with a water softener. Calcium is safe (not harmful), it just leaves a white debris behind. To determine the hardness, a water sample will need to be taken. This can be done at the local Sears store or the water company can make this check. This will help determine the proper equipment that will be needed, for your water supply.

A:

The specs are actually plastic. I do not live in area prone to calcium and the specs do not show up inany other faucets in the house nor in the ice cubes from the ice cube maker in the refrigerator.

Q:

Refrigerator is making a humming/ creaking noise. 59673509201

A:

Thank you for choosing Searspartsdirect.com and being a valued member. I can certainly assist you.

The icemaker fills with water and pushes ice cubes into the tray, the compressor turns on and shuts off and the fan motor starts and stops on a regular basis. Creaking sounds and a variety of other sounds can be heard coming from the refrigerator, but they are usually normal occurrences during the operation of the appliance.
