The information you have received about low water pressure affecting the water valve is correct. Since this problem started after the filter system was installed, I recommend first checking the pressure at the refrigerator. If it's low, the valve may not be sealing good and allowing water to seep through. To check this, disconnect the power to the unit and shut off the water supply. Now take the water line loose at the inlet valve and place it in a bucket or pitcher. Turn the water back on, to see if it's under pressure or coming out slow. If it seems ok, reconnect the water and power to the unit. The most likely problem will be with the water valve but you can try adjusting the water fill first (see attached picture).
