This particular unit uses an adaptive defrost control board which is located in the freezer section. The images below may give you an idea of where is it located. Remember to unplug the unit first. If the unit is frosted up there is a way to enter the defrost cycle to confirm the control is the problem and not the element.

I can understand your concern about the door closing. The information you have received is very good. Now, by not closing good, do you mean part of the door, maybe the top or bottom is not closing good or maybe not sealing good? Is the door just not closing? In some cases, if it's just a gap in the gasket, it can usually be corrected by heating the gasket with a hair dryer. Sometimes the door can bow, which will cause the top or bottom not to seal. In this case, the door needs to be bowed back in place. If the complete handle side of the door does not seal, it may be from the gasket not sliding on the hinge side. If the gasket sticks, it will not allow the door to close all the way. In this case, sometimes the hinge needs to be shimmed out as explained in the information you have received and sometimes lubing the gasket will help. A little Vaseline would work for this. I hope this helps you. If you would like more assistance, any additional details will be helpful and I will be glad to assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
