Question and Answers

Q:

Kenmore refrigerator model #59668142890 smells when fan is running. Cleaned it inside and out. Is there a drip pan? What could be causing the odor?

A:

I can see your Kenmore Refrigerator has a horrible smell when the fan is running, and you would like to know if there is a drip pan to your Refrigerator. I went to Sears Parts Direct website and there they show you different sections of the refrigerator. Click on the Evaporator and Freezer Container selection and the drip pan is number 931 you can see exactly were this drip pan is located. I attached the link below, I hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, there is a drain pan (# 292 in picture) located in the machine compartment. This can be a very difficult pan to gain access to. The unit needs to be tilted and the bottom compartment lowered to get the pan out. I would recommend having a technician perform this procedure because the refrigerant lines could kink or break, if it's not done correctly. I'm listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . If you would like more assistance, additional details will be needed.
