A:

I know how important it is to have as much useful information about location of parts in your refrigerator as possible. While you are waiting for a detailed reply from an expert I recommend visiting the Sears parts direct website were you can view a parts list and diagram of your model. I have provided the link below. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the advice but I've looked at all the parts and couldn't find it. Even the search for "timer" didn't give me any clues or answers. the problem is that the defrost heater doen't come on so frost builds up around the evaporator and blocks airflow to the refrigerator above it. Any ideas?

Thank you for your question. The defrost timer in this model is built into the control board. A good check for this will be to manually place the control into a defrost cycle. If the heating element works during this time, it will indicate the control is not advancing on its own and the control board # 12868513 will need to be replaced. It's available at http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-number/12868513?searchModPar=12868513&pathTaken=partSearch&prst=0&shdPart=&sid=MMLxexpertxmerch . I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
