Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern about the ice buildup in the freezer. Since the fan is apparently running, this will be a problem with the defrost system. There are various parts in the defrost system and it will also depend on the type of controls this model has. Craig, thank you for the model and serial number. I'm attaching some information below of how to manually advance this unit into the defrost cycle. If the heating element does work now, it will indicate the control # 12868513 is not advancing on its own and will need to be replaced. If it still won't work, some voltage and resistance checks will need to be made. A technician may be needed to make these checks. You can call 1-800-469-4663 to schedule a tech to come out.
