I know how frustrating it can become when you continue to experience issues with your refrigerator. All the cooling for both the freezer and refrigerator compartment comes from the freezer. Since you have already checked and cleaned the vents, this could be an issue with the fan. Listen to your unit, near the freezer section, to see if the fan is working properly. If you can hear it then this could be an issue with a low Freon refrigerant charge, this would prevent proper cooling or a sealed system problem. If you hear any clicking from the compressor area, this may indicate the compressor is having a hard time.

However, if the fan and compressor sound normal, I recommend scheduling for a service appointment, this way further inspections can be made regarding the Freon charge. Should you need additional information please reply to this thread with more details. If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services . Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Thank you for the replies. The fan seems to be running; I feel cold air blowing into the freezer. The exterior fan also works. And I haven't heard any clicking. I looked again at the vents at the bottom, and it looks like there is lint & dust further in the vents that I missed the first time I cleaned. I'll try to clear those out and give it another 24 hours.

So the extra vent cleaning didn't do it. I got a freezer thermometer and the temp is right at 32 and fridge temp is mid 40s. Service has been scheduled.

I just checked the freezer and it is no longer 32. Things that were frozen are now thawed. The only other thing I've done since cleaning out the vents is adjust the temp in the refrigerator to a colder setting. I did that yesterday.

Q:

Why won't the light turn on normally?

A:

I'm not sure what you mean by pushing the switch to the side. This is a rocker switch that only pushes vertically in and out. However, it would seem the switch is not working properly and I suggest replacing it. The switch number is C3680310 and is available at SearsPartsDirect . If you need more assistance, you can resubmit your question with more details.

Q:

Why is my Kenmore refrigerator not working?

A:

All of the cold air for the refrigerator section comes from the freezer by forced air through the return air duct #14. The freezer fan motor #27 is located behind the evaporator cover #4. I recommend removing the evaporator cover #4 & inspecting the freezer fan motor & evaporator.

Be sure to check for ice blocking the return air duct in the upper left corner behind the evaporator cover.
