A:

I understand your Kenmore Dishwasher keeps flashing for washing and nothing seems to be happening. I found a question in Manage My Life under the Answers button that was similar to the one you asked. I think this information might be a little helpful in the mean time while your waiting for an expert answer. I attached the link below, I hope this helps!!!!!

Based on your symptom and details the likely failure is the door switch/latch assembly. One of the two door switches is not closing in order to start the dishwasher. Make sure the door is closed and latched or it will not start. Try opening and then closing the door will a little force. If continues to flash washing and not start then you will need to check the door switch operation with an ohm meter. NOTE: Disconnect the dishwasher from the power supply before accessing and checking the door switches. You may have to replace the door latch assembly. You can't get just the door switches. You must replace the door latch assembly if you find one of the two door switches not closing.

To remove the door latch:

  1. Disconnect the dishwasher from electrical supply.
  2. Remove the outer door panel.
  3. The door latch is held to the inner door panel with two (2)screws and two (2) locator pins. Remove the screws and pull to remove.
  4. To remove the door switches, push the plastic bracket open and rotate the bottom of the switch up.

To remove the outer door panel:

  1. Disconnect the dishwasher from electrical supply.
  2. The outer door panel is held to the inner door panel with four (4) locking tabs and two screws. Loosen the two (2) lower screws securing the control panel.
  3. Remove the two (2) screws securing the door panel to the door (located at the lower section of the inner door panel).
  4. Slide the door panel down and outward to remove.
