Question and Answers

Q:

Dishwasher problem

A:

Thank you for your question.  I am sorry you are having continued problems with the dishwasher. The advice you received before was correct.  The door switch was the most obvious cause. This leaves the control. If you are confident in your abilities and have an ohm meter, you might try opening the console and checking the wiring contact from the door switch to the control. Sometimes moisture gets into the control and the contacts may become slightly corroded. You can try cleaning them with a pencil eraser if there is any corrosion. Remember to disconnect power to the dishwasher. I have attached the wiring to the image below. If the contacts are good and the continuity is open to the control, then replace the control, part #154568401. If further help is needed, please reply.  Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Q:

Dishwasher will not re-start after washing dishes. 587.16182402

A:

Thank you for your question.  I am sorry for the problem with your Kenmore 587.16182402 Dishwasher.  I suspect the door switches are not opening when the door is open and that is why the light stays on.  The image below may be helpful to you.   The control might also be at fault but I would start with the door switches.  You can check them with a meter.  Check continuity across the switch.   When the door is open the switch should show an open circuit.    I hope this helps.  You can reply below with any additional details for further assistance.
