Q:

Dishwasher not working 58716152400 Kenmore Dishwasher

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. I regret to hear that you are having issues with your dishwasher and do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. Im looking at your model number 58716152400. The timer is the part that runs the machine and if you are having getting the dishwasher into any cycle the timer will need replacing. You have already determined that there is power going to the machine. The timer might have a damaged gear in it. I have included a link to our PartsDirect page where you can purchase the part you need to complete your repair. Just click the blue link below to be taken to the page.

If you have further questions please let me know.
Thanks for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

Q:

How do I fix my Kenmore dishwasher that won’t drain?

A:

If you can hear the pump running & the unit will not drain, I suspect a problem with the drain motor or drain line. The drain motor is located under the dishwasher behind the lower panel. If you do not hear the drain motor running we will need to use a volt meter to check the voltage to the drain motor. Please see the images provided from the service manual explaining how to access & check the drain pump & motor.

A:

Just had a new garbage disposal installed and the DW stopped draining. The plumber forgot to knock out the plug. Unscrewed the DW pipe to GD, used a hammer and screwdriver to bang it out, and fished the plug out of the drain. Now it's draining properly. Thanks for a great suggestion!

I think I have the answer, my home is on a concrete slab with no basement. I believe the reason it does not drain all the way is because the drain hose goes on an upward angle from the bottom of my dishwasher before it runs to wherever it drains to. How do I overcome this problem of water sitting in the bottom of my dishwasher and causing, what i believe to be mold and stuff in my dishwasher?

I understand how important it is to have your dishwasher working properly. It is normal to see about 1 to 2 tablespoons of water left in the bottom of the dishwasher. If you are seeing more than that, then you could have a problem with the drain. There are several components that will cause this to happen, including the filters, the motor, the pump or the controls. You will need to test them and look for an clogs to know which one it is. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
