Question and Answers

How many door springs are on a Kenmore model 587.155702 dishwasher and how do I change them?

There are two, one for each hinge, door springs on this dishwasher.

The pads can be replaced and if you have to order the springs I'd recommend replacing the pads at the same time but most likely they're okay and don't need to be replaced.

To change the springs you'll have to pull the dishwasher out about 1-2 feet to get to the sides of the dishwasher.

To uninstall a dishwasher start by removing the two top screws mounted to the cabinet. It will also help to remove the lower access panels.

There should be enough slack in the electrical line and drain hose to pull the dishwasher out far enough to service the springs. The water supply line may not have enough slack and may require turning the water off and disconnecting the line from the water valve.

At this point you should be able to determine how much room you need. The spring mounts to the hinge and the other end you will have options of where to place it to vary the amount of tension. Start in the middle and check the door tension and then adjust till the door has proper tension. See the image below for a picture of the spring and adjustment holes. The image below should help with this.

I hope this information helps with this project but submit another question with any additional details for further assistance.
