Dishwasher noise

A:

Since the Kenmore dishwasher not used every day, that gives us time to figure out what is causing the squealing sound. A similar question has been answered in the link provided below. Hope the information is helpful while an expert responds with additional information.

From the description you give I suspect the circulation motor is the source of the noise. From the description you give the noise is not from the water valve since the noise occurs at the end of the cycle when the water fill should have stopped. The images below may be of help to you. The first shows how to remove the toe panel. This might help in localizing the source of the noise. The 2nd image shows how to get into the sump to check for debris. I hope this helps. You can reply with additional questions for further assistance.

Fred, if you are able to use the address below, the dishwasher in this video makes the same noise that my machine makes. Noise Coming From My New Frigidaire Dishwasher - YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHGvL18kKDc

Thanks for the video. For a moment I thought the noise might be from the water inlet valve but I believe the sound continues even after the water fill has stopped. I believe the circulation motor is the source of the noise.

That was the sound on mine well into the wash cycle, I have seen a video on how to replace the motor on a Frigidaire model. The parts look the same. Do you have any other literature on the repair. The video I saw showed putting the machine on its back and removing the pump without removing the sump. I sure hope the new motor is an improvement over the original!

The motor kit is part number 154844301. The images below may be helpful to you. Remember to turn the power off first. The best access will be to pull the dishwasher out from under the cabnet. There are three sump retainers, see 2nd image below, that you move so the sump assembly can be pulled out of the dishwasher. I hope this helps. I would expect there to be enough slack in the water, drain and electrical connections to allow the dishwasher to be pulled out far enough. As a last resort you can pull the dishwasher completely out and lay it on its back.
