Make sure that the dishwasher is level (not tilted forward). Check the spray arms for cracks or splits. If you see no problems with those issues, I recommend that you install the splash shield kit that is shown in the image below. The part number for that kit is 154701001. Here is a Sears PartsDirect.com link for that part: Gasket .

This information should help you resolve the leak on the front of your dishwasher. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

I have a Kenmore dish washer. Why dose it smell like methane gas when I haven't used it for 3 days?

A:

Placing dirty dishes in the dishwasher and not starting it for a few days will cause it to produce odors. If you store dirty dishes in the dishwasher while waiting for a full load, you should run a rinse only cycle to help prevent the dirty dishes from smelling while waiting for a full load.

Methane gas smell can only emit from the plumbing however you could smell dirty water that possibly could be draining back through the drain hose and into the dishwasher causing the odor. You did not indicate how the dishwasher drain hose is routed or where it connects to the drain pipe. You drain pipe should have an elbow/P-trap which are designed to hold water so sewer gases can not travel up and out into the sink or dishwasher.

I recommend checking the routing of your dishwasher drain hose. It should be looped up higher than the bottom of the sink so that water can not gravity drain back down the drain hose and into the dishwasher. Also, is the dishwasher draining all the water out?

Yes, it is OK to pour some bleach inside the dishwasher and then run a short cycle to rinse it out.
