Water flows onto floor during rinse cycle 58715233900 Kenmore Dishwasher

Q:

my dishwater, model 587.15233900, is not working. I think it is the motor, but before I order the part, I need to make sure. 587.15233900

A:

Thank you for choosing sears I would be happy to help you with your dishwasher. Upon researching model 587.15233900; the dishwasher motor is normally responsible for making the humming noises. Some of the humming noises the dishwasher makes normally happen when the dishwashers fan is spinning to keep the pump motor cool, the food disposer may be grinding up food.

I trust this information will help you, have a great day.

Q:

Loud Noise when Running 58715233900

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com and being a valued member. It is unfortunate to hear that you are having issues with your dishwasher and I do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. I'm looking at your model number mvwb722vq0 and it's very difficult to diagnose the causes of noises without being there to hear them.  If it's making a grinding noise when washing then there is likely a small hard object in the wash pump. If it's making the grinding noise during the drain cycles then there is likely something hard in the drain pump. The spray arm could be making a rubbing noise too as its rotating. Open the door and manually give the lower spray arm a quick spin to see if it's making the rubbing noise. You could also have a water supply line touching the frame or wash motor causing the noise too. Here is a link for a video that may help with additional troubleshooting. Just click the blue link above to be taken to the page. I trust this information will help you.

Thank you for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com.

I am having he same problem. It was only leaking on the right corner of the dishwasher door (I put a small bowl on the floor to catch the water. While changing the tub gasket I found that the CORNER GASKET was missing on the right side. Just order two of them part # 154701001. Check out that part # and see if it is missing or the rubber separated from its' plastic part. Hope this helps. JOHNL

Q:

Won't wash 58715233900 Kenmore Dishwasher

A:

Try unplugging the dishwasher for 5 minutes (or shut off the breaker to disconnect electrical power). If the dishwasher won't operate properly after restoring power, then the problem is likely caused by a defective electronic control board in the console (part 154718501). That control board governs the timing and execution of dishwasher component functions. I recommend that you have a service technician examine the dishwasher and replace that control board if necessary.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

Q:

Kenmore Dishwasher 58715233900A continually repeats the wash cycle over and over without stopping. What could be the cause?

A:

Thank you for your question.  I am sorry for the problem with your Kenmore 587.15233900A Dishwasher.   From the description you give I suspect the Main Control Board is the problem.  This dishwasher does not have the ability to repeat a cycle if the water is dirty.  It does not sense how dirty the water is and does not have the ability to add a cycle.  If the keypad is stuck you might not be able to select any other cycle but it should at least run the cycle selected.  I would suggest you try the Quick Rinse cycle.  This cycle is very simple.  It should fill, wash and drain all in about 10-12 minutes.  If you can not select the Rinse cycle then the console likely has a stuck or shorted keypad.   You can reply below with any additional details or comments.  Thank you for using Manage My Life.

The keyboard does work. I am able to select other options on the pad, and even if I select stop during the normal wash, the machine will stop, and drain the water. I can try the quick rinse cycle and see what happens.

I was able to use the Quick Rinse feature. It ran for roughly 15 minutes then completed successfully. The normal wash stays in the wash cycle for over an hour. The first time I noticed was almost 2 hours.

A:

Running through the Quik Rinse is a good start. The quik rinse is a simple cycle that just fills, washes and drains. There is no water heat or sensing in the Quick Rinse cycle. When the normal wash cycle stalls does the water seem to be heated? If there is a water heat problem then the wash cycle might last an hour or two. Does the heater element seem to work? If the element works and if the water is being heated then the control is most likely at fault.

A:

Water heat is a good thing. Try the High Temp wash option and see if the water temp gets above 120 degrees. The dishwasher running an hour or two is not unusual nowdays. The dishwasher should heat the water up and this can stall a cycle. 120 degrees is a good incomming water temp but some cycles must reach 155 degrees to finish.

A:

If the temperature started at 120 then later was at 140 I suspect the unit is heating water. Try a normal cycle and see if it will finish the cycle. It may stall for 30 minutes to an hour but it should finish the cycle. If the unit stalls in the middl of the cycle and the water is being heated the control is likely at fault.
