Question and Answers

Q:

Door spring replacement 5871511590 Kenmore Dishwasher

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Kenmore Dishwasher, Model: 587.1511590. From reviewing the details on your model, the door springs are on both sides of the door. As far as I’m seeing it does not appear that you would require the bushings for the repair.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the dishwasher to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

If you don’t feel comfortable or confident in this repair, then you can have it repaired at home by a sears technician. I have the included a link to the website: Sears Home Services or call 1-800-469-4663

I hope this answered your question. Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com, and have yourself a wonderful day.

Q:

What might cause a loud noise from my Kenmore model 587.1511590 when it is first starting up?

A:

At start up there would be two potential causes of noise. One possible noise would be a loud hammering/knocking noise coming from the water valve. This noise might be caused by air in the water line or simply a bad water valve.

The other potential source of noise would be the motor. The motor noise might be caused by the wash impeller or the motor itself.

You don't give much information on what type of noise or where it seems to be coming from. If you haven't I'd suggest removing the lower access panel and see if the source of the noise is more apparent.

Both the motor, wash impeller and the valve could be replaced as a do-it-yourself project. Any parts needed can be obtained from the following link: Sears PartsDirect .

I hope this information is helpful to you but submit another question with any additional details for further assistance.
