Question and Answers

Q:

Just received replacement part # 5304467883 rack for dishwasher. Where does silverware basket that came with it fit in the rack??Where do I now put bowls?

A:

The  5304467883 lower rack is the correct number.  It is a substitute but it should work.  The silverware basket should sit in the rack along the side of the rack.  Substitue racks seldom match the originals but they should still work.  I did find a picture shouwing the silverware rack sitting on top of the rack tines.   I hope this helps.  You can reply below with any additional details or comments.

There is no opening on either side for the rack. Unless I waste the whole 2nd row horizontally(where the 1st & second wheels are). There is a small opening vertically along the front, but it has a bump out on the rack so that if I put it there it hits the sprayer. I'm pretty sure that isn't right either. This is shoddy work in my opinion on Sears' part. I would think that the silverware rack sent with the replacement rack should fit it, but it doesn't . Any other ideas????

Any other ideas other than returning the replacement rack???I guess I'll have to live with my old rack with the 1 broken tine where the bowls go, unless there is another replacement that will work better. I really can't use this one if I have nowhere for the silverware to go. Any other suggestions??????

I can appreciate the efforts you've made to resolve this issue of your dishwasher not draining.  Regarding venting,  do you have a vent that would be by your kitchen faucet, to the right likely?  It would be a chrome cap that allows the system to vent.  I have located a link that will discuss your situation in more detail by offering effective trouble shooting tips.  Click here to view the link.  Though this link discusses a different model number,
the mechanics are likely going to be very similar.Keep in mind that an expert will be
responding within the next two business days if not sooner and will likely offer you more information and
instruction.  I hope this will enable you to resolve your draining issue and have a nice day.

I understand how frustrating it can get when you experience an issue with your dishwasher. If you can hear the pump running and the unit will not drain, I suspect a problem with the drain motor or drain line. The drain motor is located under the dishwasher behind the lower panel. If you do not hear the drain motor running you will need to use a volt meter to check the voltage to the drain motor.

Too much suds can also prevent the dishwasher from draining properly. Make sure that you are using the correct type of dishwasher detergent and the appropriate amount. Run a test cycle with no detergent if you think that this might be causing your problem.

Check your sink drain to make sure that it is draining properly. If you have an air gap installed, check the air gap for a clog. The air gap would be located on the sink, most of the time there will be cover on this. Make sure that you have at least a 32" high anti-siphon loop installed in your drain hose to prevent water from siphoning back into the dishwasher tub. If these checks do not reveal any problems, you could have failed drain pump on the dishwasher. There is also a drain check valve on the discharge end of the drain pump. If this check valve is defective or restricted, it could allow water to flow back into the tub.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services if you decide to schedule for an appointment. If you need further assistance, please feel free to reply back to this thread with further details.
