Q:

soap dispenser will not stay closed on dishwasher

A:

Keeping the dishwasher working well means no hand washing of dishes. I was able to locate a similar question that may help while you wait for the expert. I also located a manual for this dishwasher. Both are attached below. I hope these help.

The dishwasher detergent door is held in place by the bimetal assembly. You can obtain and view the bimetal from the following site: BiMetal . The bimetal catches the door when it is closed. When power is directed to the bimetal it bends and allows the door to open. You will need to take the door panel off to access the bimetal and latch.

The bimetal worked great. Now I am stuck on removing the housing/diffuser because it's not rinsing. I removed the spray arm (it's in good shape) and the housing #23 (Sears diagram) is off but the diffuser is stuck on a shaft or something. Do I pry with a screw driver or pliers? It just turns on a shaft. I think it's supposed to be attached inside the housing and there are marks/scrapes inside the housing from the diffuser/impeller. I also need to replace gasket #6 but can't get the diffuser off to do so. I there anything else that I should look at also? I am working from inside the dishwasher. Please advise. Thanks!

With part key 23 the impeller housing is removed you should be looking at the upper impeller. The diffuser should come off with the impeller housing. REmove the bolt and the upper impeller should come off. The lower drain impeller, part key 8, sometimes will get stuck on the motor shaft and have to be pried off.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The bolt at the top of the diffuser assembly usually is threaded into the diffuser. Sometimes a replacement diffuser assembly will have the diffuser permanently attached and is not removable. If the diffuser is removable, it would thread off.

I added an image below to reference. I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

The housing is completely off, but the diffuser is stuck inside the dishwasher above number 3 (impeller). It turns. How do I remove the diffuser? I used a srewdriver and probably cracked #3. Does the impeller screw into a shaft? I thought about using pliers.

A:

Kelly; The difusser must have dropped down and welded itself the wash impeller. Yes, the wash impeller is held down to the motor shaft with a screw. You will need to pry/break the diffuser from the wash impeller.
