Question and Answers

Q:

My Kenmore QuietGuard Dishwasher Model number 58714144400 is leaking from a "port" on Drain Pump. 58714144400 Kenmore Dishwasher

A:

Your details seem to indicate that the drain hose is loose or that the drain pump housing is cracked. Tighten the drain hose connection if leaking. Replace the drain pump if the housing is cracked. Check the drain hose for cracks or leaks. Check the drain hose for clogs. Clear any clogs from the drain hose.  Make sure that the sink drain is clear. Replace the drain hose if it's damaged or leaking. The rubber flap on the output connection of the drain pump is a "check valve" to keep drain water from back-flowing into the dishwasher sump. If the check valve is damaged, replace the drain pump.

I hope that these tips help. If you need further assistance, let us know.

This is an unusual problem since the dishwasher has a separate drain pump and you indicate the drain problem only happens at the end of the cycle.

You don't provide many details about the problem. You say it will not drain at the end of the cycle but you make no mention if the drain pump is running or not.

Suds are the usual suspect when there is a poor drain but you don't mention if there are any suds. Suds are the most likely cause of this problem so you might take a look in the last cycle and see if there are any excessive amount of suds.

If there is no drain at all then I suspect the timer is the problem.

The images below will help you remove the filters and check the sump for any kind of obstructions.

If there are any additional details I may be able to help you further.

The most common cause of a no fill in a dishwasher is the float being out of place. If the float is not in the standpipe then the dishwasher will not fill. The whole circuit is door switch, timer, float switch and water valve. If anything works then the door switches and voltage is okay. If nothing at all works then start by checking voltage and the door switch. The float switch has two pink wires and can be checked for continuity if a meter is available. The water valve has a pink and white wire and can also be checked for continuity. The toe panel will need to be removed. You will also most likely need to pull the unit out a foot or so to replace the valve if needed. There may be enough slack so nothing has to be disconnected. Remember to turn the power off first. I hope this helps. You can reply with any additional details for further assistance.
