Question and Answers

Q:

i need to unstalled a dishwasher kenmore 5871409580

A:

The first step to removing a built in dishwasher is to turn the power to the unit off. This can be a wall switch in the kitchen or you may need to turn the circuit breaker off.

The image below shows how to remove the lower access panel. with the panel off you can access the junction box that contains the power wires to the dishwasher. Disconnect these when you're sure the power is off.

Next open the door and remove the two screws going into the countertop holding the dishwasher.

With these two screws removed you can pull the dishwasher out a few inches for better access to the water line. Under the sink should be a water cut off. Turn the water off and remove the water line from the water valve. This is usually a 3/8 inch nut holding the water line to the water valve.

All that should be left is the drain hose. This can be disconnected from under the sink and pulled through as the dishwasher is being pulled out.

There is usually a couple of cups of water in the drain line that will drain onto the floor.

Depending on the floor you might raise the leveling legs an inch or two to make it easier pulling the dishwasher out from under the cabinet.

Lift up and pull out being careful not to damage the tile/floor in front of the dishwasher.
