Q:

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I definitely understand the frustration with not knowing the proper amount of oil that goes into your pressure washer. I will be more then happy to assist you. Looking at the information for Craftsman pressure washer, the oil capacity in this is 20oz. Oil that can be used is SAE 30 weight. Hope this information has help you, any future questions or concerns please feel free to comment back, thanks.

Just to make sure we are communicating.....I am talking about the pump oil, not the motor oil. The owner's manual says that the pump capacity is 5 oz. and that you use gear oil (like SAE 80 weight). I have drained all the oil out of the pump; Then I added 5 oz. of oil but I do not see any oil level in the window on the side of the pump.

Q:

pressure washer quits running

A:

Pressure washers are great to have around the house to turn chores into quick projects. I see your unit wont stay running. I find my manual helps to solve many of these type issues. You may have already checked it but just in case you do not have a copy I located and attached the online manual below. I also found a troubleshooting article that may help while you wait for the expert.

If the engine starts and dies out within a few seconds, that typically indicates a problem with the carburetor. There could be some trash down in the carburetor bowl causing this or it could be old fuel deposits up in the jets. If there is a fuel shutoff valve there could be something caught in the fuel line at the valve that is stopping gas flow to the carburetor. Most likely the problem will be within the carburetor though.

You can pick up a can of spray carb/choke cleaner from an auto parts store to clean the carburetor out with. You will need to remove the carburetor from the engine to properly clean it though. I would try just taking the bowl off the carb and cleaning it out first with the cleaner and then see if anything improves.

You need adapter 7175187GS to connect to the pressure washer. For the most part, any 3/8 female quick connect for pressure washers is going to work for your application. Some of these part numbers have changed over the last few years, so I assume that is why that was overlooked when you purchased the hose.

You can go HERE to order the part or you can check your local store to see if they have it. You could even try a local hardware store to see if they have a fitting that will work for it.

I apologize that this was missed when you got the hose.
