Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when having trouble with  your humidifier.

Your systoms point to a failed bucket switch.   or a bad control board.   I would try the switch first.   If you replace the switch then check the wiring between the switch and the control board.   If the wiring is good then you will need to replace the control board.   I will send you the links below on the parts if you just click on them please.

switch per model 580.54501800

control board per model 580.54501800

If you have further questions please let me know.
Thanks for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

Q:

dehumidifier not collecting water. What's wrong?

A:

Unplug the unit until ALL of the ice is melted. Make sure the coils and fins are spotless. If you are using a drip bin, make sure the float is being lowered when you replace the bin.

I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your dehumidifier. Two things are needed for a dehumidifier to work optimally:

  • Ambient Temperature (room temperature) must be above 65 degrees Fahrenheit. (Kenmore 70 pint model 54701 – above 42 F)
  • Relative Humidity in the room above 45 %.

If the filter is clean and the fan and compressor is running and the humidity is above 45% the likely failure is in the sealed system. It could have a bad compressor, Freon leak, bad reversing valve or a restriction. I recommend taking the unit in for repair or call a service technician to diagnose and repair your dehumidifier. I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife.com. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your dehumidifier leaking water. We are here to help. Henry provided a good link on this problem. The drain pan under the evaporator may be leaking. It may be clogged or it may be overfilling. This can happen if the coils are ice up. Otherwise, I suspect the drain connection may be slightly out of position or the filter may not be installed properly. I hope this helps.
