Humidity setting 58054351700 Kenmore Dehumidifier

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I understand how frustrating it can be to not be able to adjust the setting on your dehumidifier. This may be an issue with the control board or sensor in your unit. Certain technical tests need to be performed to find out which of these is the problem. I have included a link to our PartsDirect page where you can purchase the part you may need to complete your repair. Just click the blue link below to be taken to the page.
Sensor for Kenmore Dehumidifier Model # 58054351700
It appears that Sears no longer carries the original manufacturer control board for this unit. I apologize for this inconvenience. The part number is 6871A10142A. Because of this, I recommend contacting a Sears technician to see if the board can be fixed instead of replaced. You can call them at 1-800-469-4663 or click HERE to schedule a home appointment.
SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. Thank you for your question.  I am sorry for the problem with your Kenmore 580.54351700 dehumidifier.

The compressor not running is the more serious problem.  Do you hear a hum followed by a click when the compressor tries to start?  Checking the compressor is something only a technician can do.  If you hear a hum followed by a click then either the compressor is bad or the start relay/overload is the problem.  A bad compressor would mean it is time to replace the unit.  Replacing the compressor would not be economical.  You can have the problem checked in your home by a Sears technician.  Here is the link: Sears Home Services Dehumidifier Repair.  You can reply below with any additional details or questions for further assistance.

I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your dehumidifier. If the dehumidifier is not coming on or making any kind of noise, then it could be a problem with the controls. They are not getting any type of power to the unit. I would suggest that you plug a light or hairdryer into the outlet, just to be sure it is working. If there is a humming sound is coming from the compressor then the capacitor might be the problem. If the compressor is humming but not starting then the problem can be the compressor, overload or capacitor. The compressor is not economical to fix. It would be better to replace the unit with a new one instead of replacing the compressor. I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Thank you, I have checked the outlet, etc. It is truly dead, and I have already had to buy a new one as I was dealing with moisture in my basement from a recent minor flooding and needed something immediately. After reading the reviews of this dehumidifier online, it seems that these are built to fail within two years, which is a terrible waste of money and resources. I did not buy a Kenmore this time.
