Q:

Rear Drain Hose Connector is loose when attached. Washer needed? 58054351500 Kenmore Dehumidifier

A:

Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife.com. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your dehumidifier leaking water. We are here to help. Based on the symptom, I suspect the drain connector is not full inserted or a part is missing from the tube. The tube has an 2 o-rings on it to prevent leaks. You have to push the drain tube so it goes past the o-ring seal and then you can lock it into place. If the o-rings are missing or cracked, water will leak inside the dehumidifier. The drain connector would have to be replaced. Otherwise, there is a problem with the drain pan assembly. The drain pan assembly may be cracked causing the water to leak. The drain pan assembly would need to be replaced. I hope this helps.

Thanks for contacting manage my life about your dehumidifier model 58054351500; sorry you are having a problem, I will be glad to assist you. Based on the information you have provided it sound like there may be a problem with the sealed system. If you are hearing the compressor run and there is no moisture being collected by the evaporator coil then no refrigerant is being circulated. This could mean the system has lost the charge, or the compressor is not pumping. Either of these are issues that need to be repaired by a certified Technician.  You can take the unit in or have a technician come out; here is a link to contact for: Sears Home ServicesRon H.

We decided to purchase a newer model and now have model 407.52301. It is the 30 pint model. However, the fan continues to run even if the compressor shuts off. We are concerned about the electric bill. Also, wondering how the humidity controls work. If you set the humidity for 50 it keeps running and sometimes compressor seems to shut off but fan keeps running. To see if it would shut off when humidity is around 50 according to our own humidistat we set it to about 65. It still keeps running.
