Q:

Voltage problem 580328300 Craftsman Ac generator

A:

Thank you for your question. From the description you give I believe the problem will be with the voltage regulator.  This type of problem is best checked by a technician.  There are 3 styles you might see.  Each is square with 6 terminals/wires.  Each will have a voltage pot that can be adjusted with a small straight edge screwdriver.  I hope this helps.

Q:

I'm trying to obtain a "Table of Contents" for SearsPartsDirect manual 60505 supposedly for a 580.328241 Craftsman power generator. I am trying to determine 1.

A:

I can understand your need for some type of table of contents for your power generator. While you are waiting for your expert answer, I did some research on the unit. At this time, I was unable to locate information that would be helpful in regards to your question. Some of these questions that are asked will need specific research and will be answered by an expert with-in two business days but usually sooner.

Why does Sears make these hardcopy manuals available for a high price on SearsPartsDirect, but does not make them also available on ManageMyLife as PDFs that can be downloaded? What is the purpose of the ManageMyLife website if its support staff do not have the same access to manuals as SearsPartsDirect staff? This "missing manuals" problem seems to be happening more often than Sears customers would like...

I would not be able to provide you a free copy of something that is for sale on our other websites. At MML we only provide a picture of a certain instructions we would like to be performed. We do have a part of the site for the download of owner manual and I a not sure what this 60505GS is. I will check the link to see if it is correct the way it is or if it can be moved to a free site. What I have is a service manual that is 126 pages long and service manual are not available for download. I pull up a 10,000 watt generator 580.328300. That is as close I get to your model on my site. Tell me what you are looking for and I will try to send it to you in a condensed version. I am assuming you have a 4500 watt generator since it has a 9 hp motor on it.

A:

The 580.328241 generator I own is 9hp and produces 120v/220v single phase and 3750 watts of power. This model was: 1.) in the Craftsman Long-Run series, 2.) made by Generac, 3.) powered by a Sears 9hp 143.756102 4-cycle motor (also called a Tecumseh/Briggs & Stratton HM80-155146G) and 4.) produced 3750W with Generac Rotor Part# 44391KGS and Generac Stator Part# 44961VGS.

The information is 580 = generac and the motor would be listed in the parts list as a 143 tecumseh motor. I once more checked the owners manual site and the owners manual is not listed. The manual listed from parts direct is the repair manual which is for sale. All repair manual are for sale the owners manual are listed for free download on the Sears ManagemyLife site. The 60505GS is the repair manual. You may have luck on the gererac site below.

Thank you for your question.

I can understand wanting to have the generator working to supply electricity.

If you are talking about the any capacitors on the control board they are not available separately.

Are you sure you are not talking about the resistor which is a ceramic 20ohm 25 watt resistor.

If this is the part you are referring to the part number is: B4893GS for about $4.00. You can purchase this from: Sears Parts Direct .

If this is a resistor please tell me if it is on the control board or somewhere else on the generator.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Sam A thanks for the advice , but they are two capacitors located under the plastic cover directly on top of the generator. I think it is called an alternator on top of the generator. All i can see is made by DUC orDUO the rest is burnt. there is also a 16.10 under that emblem the rest is burnt. These capacitors plug into each other The only thing bad is it's under the cover and you can"t see them. Now on the generator itself are these # code #84201180FF102 and SN# 9987747 and PO# 38722000 thats all the info. i see. THANKS.

Thank you for the update. I had researched this some more yesterday got some information back this morning and found the two capacitors. It is recommended by the manufacture that you change both capacitors at the same time. If one is burnt the other one will be weak also. The part number for the capacitors is: 311560gs for about $62.00 each. You can order them from: [Sears Parts Direct | www.searspartsdirect.com?sid=MMLxexpertxmerch] . I hope this will help. Sam A.
