Question and Answers

Q:

where can i get a glass tray? mine got lost. 5658938090 Kenmore Microwave oven

A:

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about a part for your Kenmore microwave model 5658938090. I am so sorry the glass tray got lost. I will be happy to help you with this.

The manufacturer no longer makes this part. In this case you will need to find a generic part that will best fit your microwave. I have included the link below for you to view what is available. If you click on each tray you will be able to read specifics about it such as size.
Due to the age of this product, you may prefer to put your money towards a replacement unit. I have included a link for you to view current models available. You will see that some new microwaves are less expensive then some of the glass trays.

I hope this answers your question. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

Q:

How to replace microwave light bulb?

A:

GO HERE TO THE PARTS BREAKDOWN AND USING 'LAMP' FOR A PART DESCRIPTION YOU WILL SEE IT AS ITEM 16. LOOKS LIKE YOU MAY HAVE TO PULL THE WRAPPER(CASE) TO GET AT IT. YOUR USE AND CARE MANUAL WILL HAVE COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS IF YOU STILL HAVE IT. http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getModel!retrieve.pd?modelNumber=565.8938090&pathTaken=partSearch

Thanks. I can't believe they made changing a lamp so unnecessarily complicated.

The interior light on this microwave is an internal component that must be replaced by a service technician. It would require the unit to be disassembled to replace this light bulb. High voltage internal components in the microwave can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the unit is completely unplugged. A microwave radiation shielding test must be performed on the unit using proper testing equipment following any internal component repair. These are the reasons that the light must be replaced by a service technician. Here is a link for the Sears Service website that has drop-off locations: Sears Home Services . NOTE: Based on the age of this microwave, it may be more economical to replace it instead of repairing it. (Or you can continue to use it without the light if it is working properly otherwise.)
