Thank you for your question. I understand your concern about the light. The socket in this model will pry out of the housing. Be sure to disconnect the power first. However, I recommend first, unscrewing the new bulb and then screwing it back in place. Do this a couple of times to see if it works better. It would be very rare to have a defective socket. If the bulb is good, the most common reason for this to occur is a defective switch. To check the switch first, make sure the power has been disconnected and then pry the switch out. With the switch out, connect the 2 wires together and make sure they don't touch anything. Now reconnect the power and if the light works, the switch # 2149705 will need to be replaced. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

Hey Scott - would this same "switch test" apply to my Kenmore Compact Refrigerator, Model #56494499100? I can't seem to locate the owner's manual for this unit, and I never did receive one.

Craig, the light switch should also pry out and the same check can be made on this compact fridge. Be sure to disconnect the power before removing the switch.

Scott, you rock...! Since the terminal ends were insulated, I used a small jump wire to insert into the two wire terminal ends from the switch to connect them. I powered up and "I saw the light!" Thank you for your expertise...!

Q:

How to adjust the thermostat on a compact refrigerator?

A:

Apparently this unit is maintaining a freezing temperature between 12 and 22 degrees. The thermostat can only be adjusted using the knob and setting it to a warmer position. If you are keeping it at the number 3 setting, adjust it to 1 and give it 24 hours to adjust. Make sure the thermostat sensor is mounted securely and not kinked. If the temperature does not change a new thermostat # 302899 will need to be installed again. This is a compact refrigerator and the temperatures may vary. It will be susceptible to surrounding conditions, door openings, etc.
