Question and Answers

Q:

Specs for my microwave 5648796381 Kenmore Sears kenmore micro/convection oven

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I can certainly assist you. I did look into the model number you have provided, and I do apologize the specs for your unit are no longer available. After 5-10 years the manufacture stops giving information out for certain units. Your unit is from around 1987, which will explain why we do not have that information.  I would measure the unit so you can see if you can find a replacement, I do apologize.

Q:

can my kenmore micro/convection oven model # 5648796381 be fixed?

A:

I am sorry you are experiencing difficulties with your Microwave. Microwaves contain high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is completely unplugged. Door repairs and adjustments, even minor ones, can cause microwave leakage and a microwave shielding leakage test must be performed using a survey meter after any microwave service. I strongly suggest that you have this repair handled only by a qualified service technician. I have provided a link To Sears Home Services if you decide to schedule service. If you think it may be cost effective to just replace the unit, I have also provided a link to the Microwave section of Sears.com to price out what a replacement would cost.
