Q:

Wine Cooler 564.13485100 Ices up and freezes wine 56413485100 Kenmore Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be more than happy to help with your wine cooler. Upon researching model 564.13485100; being that it’s icing up then it could be leaking air in. The air would have moisture and cause frost to build up. Look to see if there is a certain spot where there is frost build up.

Thank you for choosing Sears. We appreciate your business. Have a great day.

Q:

My wine cooler runs all the time. Compressor never shuts off 56413485100 Kenmore Refrigerator

A:

I have exactly the same problem. The wine cooler was moved from one room to another and now the compressor does not stop working and the temperature is too cold, even when the highest temperature is selected. Could anyone explain this?

Thank you for your question. I'm sorry you are having this problem with your wine cooler. If its not cooling at all, it first needs to be determined if the compressor is running. If the compressor is running, the problem will probably be in the seal system or with the compressor. It could be a low charge, a restriction or the compressor may not be pumping properly. These are checks a technician will be required to make.

If the compressor is not running, it could be a problem with the main board, the starting device or the compressor itself. It can be difficult to determine if the problem is with the starting device or the compressor. If the starting device is burnt or if it rattles when shaken, it will indicate the starting device has failed. A technician will have a kit and meter, he can attach to the compressor, that will determine if the compressor or starting device has failed. Without this kit and meter, a chance can be taken to replace the starting device. If the compressor still wont run or if it runs but then quits again, it will need to be replaced. Im listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

Thanks for the answer, Scott. Upon closer inspection on the inside of the cabinet, I noted the rear plastic wall at the bottom was swollen inward, preventing bottle placement at this level. The metal grating was actually fused into the plastic. This indicates to me that at some point the compressor overheated significantly. So it seems the only option left is to place the unit on the curb and buy another one. We got about 10 years of service out of it so I guess I shouldn't complain!
