Please be advised, If you cannot get into the menu or you cannot see the areas below do not change any other values. Changing things inside the service menu can mess things up and might not be able to be fixed. To get into the adjustment mode: On the remote press MENU twice, then 8, and then SELECT. This will bring up a the adjustment mode. Then on the remote, press the menu button once. Select Factory reset. Press the right key for about 4 seconds or until the screen turns MAGENTA. The screen will then turn GREEN and when it is finished it will turn BLACK. This will reset the TV to the original setting from the factory.

Ok i tryed what you told me to do and nothing would still happin same thing the only butten on the remote that still work is the PIP,LC ,SELECT and the POWER is there anything else i can try or is it time to start looking for a new TV. By the way thanks for your time on this.

Can you try again? Once with the TV on and then with it off? This is a weird issue. If you can not get a rest to work it might be better to replace the TV. For a Technician to come out and diagnose the problem would be at least $130. If any parts are needed for the repair the cost would go over $300 and up from there.

Actually i spoke to my frend that gave me the tv and he said when he bought it the guy forgot to give him the remote so he bought one from hitachi i didnt know that when you first asked me so i dont know if that makes any difference if so just let me know.

My friend seems to think it is the tuner or the io board and one is on ebay for 75 bucks if this could be the problem i could put it on myself.
