I can understand your frustration trying to replace this timer. First disconnect power to the refrigerator. To lower this control housing, pull the knobs out and then use a small screwdriver to pry the escutcheon (# 25 in picture) off. There will be a screw on each side behind the escutcheon and also remove the screws under the housing. You will then be able to lower the housing. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, additional details will be helpful. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Hello, The ice in my freezer melts a little bit, not completely, sometimes at night. When I open the freezer in the morning after this happens, I see little drips of water of under the ice maker, and usually I hear the motor turn on, and freezing begins again, refreezing the ice for the day. I thought about the thermostat, but thought I'd ask before trying that. Thoughts? Thanks in advance, Scott

Most likely if you replace the head gasket then the problem will be solved. It certainly sounds like that's all that's wrong with your compressor. Make sure to torque the head bolts to 49-55 inch pounds when you put everything back together. The head gasket is part number Z-D24819 and may be ordered from the link below.

My question is more basic: I have removed the torx screws that hold the shroud, but I can't seem to remove the shroud. There are 4 rubber coated tabs that hold the base. I thought perhaps that the shroud could slide to one side enough so the tabs on one side would clear the shroud, but the shroud does not want to move. What am I doing wrong?

I can understand how important it is to have both your refrigerator and freezer working. Both of these unit are not designed to work if the outside air is below 55 degrees. This stops the compressors for kicking on and off. Since yours are in an area below this, then I would recommend a garage kit to fix the problem. This is a heating unit that will install onto the compressor, so I would suggest that you have a technician do it. If you would like to schedule service, just click on this link: Sears Home Services . I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

I have a different issue with Freezer. I have an upright Kenmore Freezer that is not keeping things frozen. However, if I manually press the 'Max Freeze' button on the outside door, the freezer works fine for about 24 hours. If the button is not pressed, the freezer stops working and everything begins to warm up. Ideas, possible problem parts ? Many thanks in advance for thoughts and guidance.
