Question and Answers

Q:

How to install a flywheel keyway on a 6HP tecumseh engine 536886160

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I have checked the service manuals we have but they do not show how the key is installed. If I remember right, the notch should be down and in the crankshaft. I recommend cleaning the inside of the flywheel and the shaft before installing the flywheel. It will keep the flywheel from slipping.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

This Tecumseh engine will have an oil tube extension or nipple on the base of the engine with a threaded cap that looks like a nut. You will need to unthread the cap to drain the oil. You can plug the part numbers into Sears Parts to see the parts. The oil tube is 31857, and the cap is 30969.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.
